Generative Art

My work explores the use of information as a medium of creative expression in a variety of manifestations. It comprises both images and interactive projects, and often employs software and hardware systems.

These images were generated using context-free grammars, which can generate abstract forms from relatively simple sets of instructions. In this series, the rules describe how to build the structure rather than describing the location and characteristics of their branches and leaves. Besides generating elegant images, research in complex grammars can lead to more efficient and powerful techniques for computation.
